Join us to hear how you can be a part of the movement of residents across Georgia who have come together to take back their electricity companies and fight for affordable bills, clean energy, and community-centered policies and programs. Electric coops serve approximately 4.4 million of Georgia’s 10 million residents and 73% of the state’s land area. The Georgia EMC Steering Committee is a group of historically under-represented electric coop member-owners from across the state working together to provide education, support, & organizing tools to their community. The Committee’s first project in partnership with Georgia Conservation Voters Education Fund and Dr. Kristin Phillips is the release of the Georgia EMC Scorecard. The scorecard evaluates Georgia EMCs on how they operate so member-owners can hold EMC directors accountable, know which issues require a push for change, and know the areas in which their EMC is performing satisfactorily.
